The water buffalo or domestic Asian water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is a large bovine animal, frequently used as livestock in southern Asia. Photo is taken in North East Thailand, better known as the Isan or Isaan region. Agriculture is the main economic activity, but due to the socio-economic conditions and hot, dry climate, output lags behind that of other parts of the country. Isan is Thailand's poorest region.
